About us
A Medway firm, working the streets we live on
Gillingham Removals is a local removal company covering ME7, ME8 and the towns around them, with a European arm running road moves out to four countries.
We are a removals firm based in Medway, working out of Gillingham. Most of what we do is within a few miles of the yard — terraced houses in ME7, family homes in Rainham and Hempstead, flats above the High Street, offices on the Business Park. Some of it goes a very long way further, because a fair number of people leave Medway for France or Spain and want the same crew at both ends.
There is no clever story here. We are not going to tell you we reinvented removals. The job is old and well understood: turn up when you said, wrap things properly, carry them carefully, put them where they go, and charge what you quoted. Most complaints about removal companies come down to one of those five failing.
Why Gillingham specifically
Because the housing here is genuinely varied and local knowledge counts. Knowing that a particular terraced street needs a bay suspension and which end of it to park at, or that a Parkwood cul-de-sac will not take a long-wheelbase van past the mouth, or that bin day in a Twydall block will cost you an hour — that is not information you get from a postcode lookup. It is information you get from working here.
We are careful about where our patch ends. Chatham has its own removal firms who know ME4 and ME5 better than we do; Rochester and Strood likewise. We cover the Medway towns and north Kent, but if your move sits squarely in someone else's town we will say so.
How we work
The quote is the price
If something changes the job — an extra room, a shed nobody mentioned, a suspended bay that fell through — we tell you what it means before we do it, not on the invoice.
The same crew, start to finish
No subcontracting your move to whoever is free. You meet the people who will be carrying your furniture.
We say no when the answer is no
Some jobs are not ours. A move entirely within Chatham is better handled by a firm based in ME4. A car needs a vehicle transporter, not us. We would rather point you somewhere good than take work we are not the right fit for.
Insurance and terms
We carry goods-in-transit and public liability cover. The limits, exclusions and the process for reporting a problem are set out in the booking terms, and we would rather you read them before you commit than after something has happened. Anything unusually valuable — an instrument, a piece of art, a collection — should be declared at survey so it is accounted for properly.
We do not list trade memberships or awards we have not earned. If that changes, it will appear here with something verifiable attached to it.
