What we collect, why we hold it, who else sees it, and what you can tell us to do with it.
Who we are
Gillingham Removals operates gillinghamremovals.co.uk and provides removals services across Gillingham, Rainham, the Medway towns and, for European moves, to France, Spain, Italy and Portugal. We are the data controller for the information described on this page. Reach us at hello@gillinghamremovals.co.uk.
What the quote form collects
- Your name
- Your phone number
- Your email address
- The pickup address
- The drop-off address
- Your moving date, if you give one
- Anything you write in the notes field
Alongside that we receive ordinary technical information — IP address, browser, pages viewed — from analytics and from the anti-spam check that protects the form.
Why we hold it
To reply to your enquiry, survey and price the move, carry it out if you go ahead, and keep a record of work done. The lawful bases are taking steps at your request before entering a contract, performing that contract once made, and our legitimate interest in running and accounting for the business.
Surveys and photographs
If we survey your property, whether in person or by video call, we make notes about the contents and the access. Where you send photographs of doorways, staircases or parking, we keep them with the job file so the crew can plan around what is actually there. We do not use images of your home for marketing.
European moves and customs
A move to France, Spain, Italy or Portugal cannot happen without sharing information outside our business. Customs authorities and clearing agents at both ends need your name, both addresses, the identification or tax reference you have supplied — NIE, NIF, codice fiscale, or the equivalent — and the inventory of what is travelling. Crossing operators need vehicle and consignment details. This sharing is a legal requirement of the move, not something we can opt out of on your behalf.
Who else sees your information
Our own staff and crews, and the systems we use to manage enquiries, quotes and jobs. Where a move involves a partner firm at the destination, they receive what they need to deliver it and nothing more. We do not sell your details and we do not pass them to unrelated companies for marketing.
Cookies and analytics
The site uses analytics to understand which pages people read and where enquiries come from, and a spam-prevention service on the quote form. No advertising cookies are set. You can block cookies in your browser; the site will still work, and the quote form will still submit.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become bookings are kept while they are still live and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you come back to us, then deleted. Records of completed moves are kept for as long as accounting, insurance and tax obligations require.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it where nothing obliges us to keep it, object to particular processing, or ask us to restrict it. Email us and we will deal with it. If you are not satisfied with how we respond, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Changes
If this policy changes, the amended version appears here. Anything that materially affects people with a live booking will be communicated directly rather than left on a page for them to find.
